Global experts in the field of optical communication were once again able to meet in San Diego in 2023. At the leading event of the optical communication and networking industry – the OFC – innovations and trends in the field of fiber optic technology were exhibited and presented. Jan Vydra, Matthias Frericks, Bastian Weisenseel and Martin Böttcher, representing Heraeus Comvance, visited the trade fair to meet with customers and partners.

"The OFC is the scientific conference for technologies in optical data transmission, where the latest results from research and development are presented," explains Matthias Frericks. "In this way, it provides indications of potential future trends. The topic of multi-core fibers was of significant importance this year. Particularly with submarine cables, the industry is nearing its transmission capacity limits. To combat this, efforts are being made to multiply the data rate by utilizing several light-carrying cores within a single fiber.”
